ACCESSIBILITY
Accessibility
I believe therapies should be accessible. The following details may be of help to you.
In my previous roles, I worked closely with people who had a wide range of disabilities. I have both lived and work-based experience of neurodiversity. It is important to me to be able to offer treatments to everyone where possible, and I encourage you to get in touch to see how I can help you.
My home treatment room is a log cabin in my garden. There is an uneven path along the side of the house, the garden is accessed by a wide gate. Mid way across the patio there a small step down. There is a step up to the cabin and then a step over the threshold. I do offer mobile treatments to those that find my home location inaccessible. Please do get in touch if you want to discuss this further.
Having a treatment should be a relaxing sensory experience. If you need me to adapt my treatment, please do let me know. For example, I can change pressure, use unscented balms, play music of your liking or give a silent treatment. Some people prefer to talk throughout their treatment and that is fine too! Movement breaks are also encouraged if needed.
Communication and Language: for your safety, we do need to complete a form before treatment can begin. This is usually done before the first treatment and checked for changes at future appointments. I send this as a Google Form link in advance. I am familiar with key signs from Makaton and have worked with people who use eye gaze technology and picture systems.
I offer treatments on a LaFuma recliner chair, massage table or Ikea Poang chair with stool. These have weight limits of 204kg (massage table), 140kg (recliner) and 110kg (Poang). For your safety, please let me know when booking if I will need to make alternative arrangements.
A toilet is available for use by clients. The room is small and in the house. It does not have grab rails etc. If you need the toilet during a treatment just let me know – I’d rather pause a treatment than have you distracted and in discomfort.
